Magglio Ordoñez

One of the finest Venezuelan Hitters ever, Magglio Ordoñez was born in the city of Coro, in 1974.
In Venezuela he belongs to Caribes de Anzoategui, team that won last year's title.
As I have read lately, he won't be playing for the Detroit Tigers anymore.

I remember a young Magglio Ordoñez playing in Venezuela in the 90's as Caribes' slugger, he was a sensation in this baseball, playing the right fielder, wearing the number 33 and batting cleanup for the eastern Venezuelan team.

He arrived to the Majors in 1997 with the Chicago White Sox, where next year he would be batting 5th, protecting "The Big Hurt" Frank Thomas. He hit 30+ HR in each season from 1999 to 2002, and 29 in 2003. Got his left knee injuried in 2004. That injury marked the end of his days in Chicago, for he signed a new contract to play with the Tigers the next 5 years.
In Detroit he became the 2nd Venezuelan to win the Batting title in 2007 with an amazing 363 beating the best hitter in the last 10 years Ichiro Suzuki.
Magglio's days in Detroit have been great, he earned the fans affection, had a BA of 300+ from 2007 to 2010. Along with his countrymen Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez, he formed the so called "Venezuelan Trio" taking the Tigers to the post-season in 2011, which was also a gerat season for Justin Verlander who should win the AL CyYoung, and catcher Alex Avila.

Well, his and Carlos Guillens' time in Detroit has come to an end, and now we'll have to wait to know that's in the horizont for the 37 years old righty,
Magglio is one of my favorite players, I  think he could play a few more seasons as a DH, or who knows, maybe 1st baseman, because when you hit the way he does you can be in any lineup... let's see what happens
